Colleague speaks: Liviu Enache

During our visit to Pieter and Marjolein at the branch in the north of the Netherlands, we were also allowed to take a look at a number of work locations. It was quite a drive from Rotterdam to Friesland, so we made optimal use of this (sunny) day.

At the outfitting location of Doeksen in Harlingen, a group of pipe fitters and a tig welder are working for Marine Service Noord via Konekta to install piping. They are working there on the pipe work in the engine rooms of two ferries. On Friday 8 March 2019, these two LNG catamarans departed from Vietnam aboard the heavy cargo vessel Sun Rise. After a long sea voyage, they arrived in Harlingen on 30 May 2019. Both ships will serve as passenger ships for the connection to and from the Wadden Islands Vlieland and Terschelling. The commissioning of the new, more environmentally friendly ships will mean a considerable quality boost for the fleet and the service. (1)

At the completion site, we meet Liviu Enache. A Romanian pipe fitter and father of 3 children. After having worked at an Italian shipyard for about 5 months, it was arrivederci Italia, hello Netherlands! He started 2 years ago in Bergen op Zoom, after which he moved to the Rotterdam harbour and finally ended up in Friesland. He has been working for Konekta for 3 months now and he likes it. His wife and children live in Romania and he only sees them during holidays. It can be hard to be separated from your family for a long time.

The project in Harlingen is expected to end at the end of April and Enache is curious what Konekta has in store for him then. "It feels good to work for Konekta, there are no problems and we understand each other," he says. Currently Enache is living in a Konekta house in Sneek. After a full working week from Monday to Friday, he likes to take it easy at the weekend and enjoys cooking and fishing.

We are curious to see what else we can expect from Enache in the future. For now, good luck to you in Harlingen!
